Day 1923,
Da Lat, September 5th, 2018
The sun shined brightly.
A hot breeze from the road blew to our faces.
We continued walking.
My shoes began tearing after two days of walking.
Nguyen said she couldn’t breathe normally.
Bao joked that he wished to come back to his cozy room.
The sun was above us.
The road was like melting wax.
Mr. Bom felt dizzy.
Our legs began heavier than usual.
We had to stop walking for a while.
Nightfall.
The street lights turned on.
Finally,
We reached our destination.
Everyone seemed happy.
Cause we had completed this crazy challenge.
I didn’t feel anything.
But I knew why.
Cause I had given up seeking that feeling.
I once rode a bicycle almost 1600 km to Hanoi.
It’s the hardest challenge to me.
When I first saw a sign of Hanoi, I burst into tears.
But after a while, I felt empty.
I didn’t know what’s wrong with me?
It’s once my biggest dreams.
I sought that feeling again by climbing up Mt. Fansipan.
But once again,
The exciting moment passed quickly after touching the mountain’s peak.
I tried to go after other goals as fast as possible.
It just made me feel even worse.
I couldn’t feel anything after achieving my goal.
So,
I give up seeking that feeling.
Instead, enjoy every moment of the journey.
Like this one.
I could feel every step as I walked.
Notice the surroundings change slowly.
Be happy when having someone walk beside me.
Feel warm when having others truly listened to me.
And excited when hearing their stories.
Thankful for the sun kept me warm on the morning.
Enjoy the breeze blowing on my face.
Grateful for the rain helped us cool down.
You know,
I’ve learned the best way to enjoy my life.
Embrace the process,
Not the goal.
